Design and planning  

Often clients only engage a draftsperson or architect at the planning stage leaving out the practical insight of the builders, unfortunately this can lead to Stressful (and expensive) or impractical complications within the building which can occur due the various planners’ engineers, architects and builders not Aligning in the early stages.   


This is why we believe at the beginning it is very important to establish a good practical process which typically flows into the construction phase to run efficiently with less complications or surprises.  

Our approach at Goodwin prioritising a thorough planning process and transparent communication between all parties involved from planning, building and completion resulting in a stress-free and enjoyable experience for our clients. 



- We first begin with our initial consultation for your proposed project, this Is a great opportunity to lay your cards on the table everything from goals, dreams, budget and timeline.  


- following that we arrange a planner or architect that suits your project brief, we then all meet up and discuss any other requirements you may have. From there we then work on providing you with a feasibility report and concept drawings. This is a good time to asses things like if there could be any special council requirements or reports that may be needed in the following stages. 


- Our next stage is developing working drawings which may involve engineers, specialists or reports this is also the perfect time for any input you may wish to have on finishes and any particular features you may have in mind, We then finalise documents prepared for your approval and then on to the council building consent process, at this stage we can also provide a corresponding cost estimate for construction.  


- Once we have gone through the building consent process all that’s left for you to do is relax and watch your vision come to life. 


All our projects are led by a dedicated project manager who takes care of everything and acts as a single point of contact for the client. With all the moving parts of a renovation or new build, We also bridge the gap between homeowners, contractors and suppliers to create a streamlined avenue of communication. And we have some great project management software that keeps our clients and everyone else up to date on progress, with this our clients also have the flexibility on the level of involvement they wish to have and can be kept up to date with all the essential information on their project, or if they wish to have less involvement can have the confidence and peace of mind knowing they are in safe hands.  


One Point of Contact Throughout Your Build 


At Goodwin Construction, we know there are so many questions to answer and decisions to make throughout your build. So we simplify and streamline the process by offering you One Point of  Contract from the start to finish of the project. 


Our on-call, Point of Contact person will keep you up to date at all times, advise you in advance when decisions need to be made and save you precious time by organising all materials, managing sub-contractors and working with specialists including architects, engineers and surveyors.
